Anxious children perceived illness in these negative ways. While useful new data were generated, the investigator moved beyond the reported data in the conclusions. Williams (1978) studied knowledge of illness in well and hospitalized third and fifth graders in two countries. No significant differences were found between American and Filipino youth. Knowledge levels were not influenced by demographic variables. Appropriate, though not sophisticated analyses were done. Relevance to nursing was not addressed in any of these three studies.
